I love photographing City Hall weddings. The whole process is fascinating to me. I’m typically meeting the couple for the first time that day. As I approach the building I’m seeing many couples either on their way in to get married, or on their way out after their vows have been exchanged. Either way, the energy is contagious.
Since there is often a bit of waiting around, it gives me an opportunity to fade into the background and photographically observe the couple and absorb the details of who they are and try to capture those moments that I feel represent them and their day best.
One such wedding recently was for Adrian and Alyssa. I saw the pride in Adrian that Alyssa was to become his wife. I saw the adoration that Alyssa had for Adrian and the smiles that were meant just for him. I saw the tenderness and love of the families in the gifts that were given to the couple, a scarf to match Alyssa’s eyes, a bouquet of flowers the bride’s father made for her. The expressions and the language of the eyes among all of them simply reflected joy and togetherness for everyone involved.
It was an honor to be included among such a celebration. Thank you Adrian, Alyssa and to your families for sharing your hearts in front of my camera.
