Personally I know first-hand what it is like to shop for clothing when you are considered “plus size” and it is not fun. I do not like to shop. From the moment you approach the store the thoughts begin: will it just be for smaller girls? Will they say things inside like “oh honey there isn’t anything here for you.” Will it be sad to see beautiful items that I know I won’t be able to fit into?
All in all, it is often a very short trip in the store as I scan the aisles for things that will fit AND are also stylish.
Good thing I have my own “style” and don’t need to do that very often.
But what about a wedding dress? The dress we all thought about from little girls. The dress that seems to be at the epicenter of ALL things wedding.
What if you are plus size and you need a wedding dress? What on earth is that experience like? And does it give you shivers?
One of my recent brides, Jennie May-Corsini is a model and plus-size advocate. Jennie candidly discusses what it was like to shop for her wedding gown – NOT as a size 6 or 8 but as a size 14 in today’s BRIDES.com.
Thank you Jennie for opening up about the experience and for showing the world how beautiful size 14 can be!!!
I said this on Facebook, but I’ll say it here: the look on her wife’s face as she turned the corner and headed down the aisle was simply amazing. I will never forget watching Andria’s face when she saw her for the first time in her wedding dress. There were no “sizes” there – just love and beauty – and probably some other things which I will leave for the privacy of the honeymoon!
