Personally I know first-hand what it is like to shop for clothing when you are considered “plus size” and it is not fun. I do not like to shop. From the moment you approach the store the thoughts begin: will it just be for smaller girls? Will they say things inside like “oh honey there isn’t anything here for you.” Will it be sad to see beautiful items that I know I won’t be able to fit into?

All in all, it is often a very short trip in the store as I scan the aisles for things that will fit AND are also stylish.

Good thing I have my own “style” and don’t need to do that very often.

But what about a wedding dress? The dress we all thought about from little girls. The dress that seems to be at the epicenter of ALL things wedding.

What if you are plus size and you need a wedding dress? What on earth is that experience like? And does it give you shivers?

One of my recent brides, Jennie May-Corsini is a model and plus-size advocate. Jennie candidly discusses what it was like to shop for her wedding gown – NOT as a size 6 or 8 but as a size 14 in today’s BRIDES.com.

Thank you Jennie for opening up about the experience and for showing the world how beautiful size 14 can be!!!

I said this on Facebook, but I’ll say it here: the look on her wife’s face as she turned the corner and headed down the aisle was simply amazing. I will never forget watching Andria’s face when she saw her for the first time in her wedding dress. There were no “sizes” there – just love and beauty – and probably some other things which I will leave for the privacy of the honeymoon!:)

When you run your own business you need to toot your own horn from time to time! This is one of those times!

I received word this week that I was awarded a Silver Medal from Borrowed & Blue for their “Best of Brooklyn 2017”

From their website:

“A Best of B&B award is the equivalent of a Michelin star in the wedding world: it identifies only the most talented, well-respected vendors in all of Brooklyn. How do we know? The winners have been chosen by Brooklyn vendors themselves. It’s a royal feast of planning insight: know-how taken from those in the know. So check out the medal winners (including special categories like Rising Star and Most Valuable Vendor) to find out the most exceptional wedding whizzes from the past calendar year.”

THANK YOU SO MUCH to B&B and my fellow vendors! I appreciate it so much!

Want to see who else made the list? Check it out HERE: B&B Best of 2017

(and since the vote is vendor based, I’m showing an image below from Loren & Herve’s wedding! Loren is the force behind Naturally Delicious, an amazing wedding caterer in Brooklyn – who also won an award!)

So happy to present Andria and Jennie on the Equally Wed Blog today!

Dancing the night away at 26 Bridge!

I adore this couple. They are 100% supportive of each other, it’s been so much fun following them on social media as they share the many fabulous things each has done. Each speaking out loud how proud they are of each other’s achievements. And watching them sneak loving stares at each other throughout the night was so much fun to keep an eye on. And the smiles, the endless smiles that were on their faces that night. It was just a joy to watch them.

And it’s ALWAYS a pleasure to work with my favorite catering team, Naturally Delicious! The event was led by Naturally Delicious’ Alison Szleifer. Everything went so smoothly and everyone was happy and had a good time.

And many thanks to my wonderful second shooter, Nadine Rovner!

I hope you  can feel it in the images. Take a peek!
